At Sony’s Pre-E3 2011 Press Conference, the PS Vita was officially revealed as the new name for what was known as the NGP or Next Generation Portable. While Sony’s conference did not offer a slew of all-new releases, they did give a vast number of new details for highly anticipated games like Uncharted 3: Drake’s deception, Resistance 3, Bioshock Infinite, InFamous 2, Starhawk, Dust 514, Star Trek and more.
New game announcements were also revealed such as NBA 2K12 (demoed onstage by Kobe Bryant of the Lakers, live and in-person!), God of War Origins Collection for PS3, Sly Cooper 4: Thieves in Time and an all-new 3D TV that features an insanely unique ability to give split-screen gamers their own fullscreen using one display through a special 3D mode. This TV will be priced affordably along with new 3D glasses and bundled with PlayStation products including the PlayStation Move and a new gun-accessory.
But the main focus and the talk of the town regarding Sony was the full reveal of their PSP2, the successor to the PlayStation Portable, now known officially as PlayStation Vita. This was the focus of the entire second half of Sony’s E3 2011 Press Conference and they announced an number of top-tier games coming to the device including Uncharted: Golden Abyss, LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, a new action RPG that uses social networking and unique online play called “Ruin”, and Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken.
