The much-hyped and praised Baldur’s Gate 3 won GOTY, as completely expected. But all six GOTY nominees deserved to win. How about your favorites?

I especially liked all the World Premieres for exciting games coming in 2024-2025. The Game Awards 2023 New Game Announcements List

Amazing how many world premieres were included in the 3-hours-long show. It’s generally as exciting to watch as a full week of E3 reveals. Especially amazing considering 2023 has been a crazy busy release year.

Exciting surprise announcements were:

  1. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake announced. Release date is February 28, 2024.
  2. Pony Island 2: Panda Service announced. Release date in 2025.
  3. Netflix Games’ The Rise of the Golden Idol teaser trailer.
  4. Usual June announced. Neon art style. Looks a little stop-motion is thrown into the movement. Indie. 2025.
  5. Arknight trailer.
  6. You Are The Chosen One announced.
  7. Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader trailer shown. Game already released last week.
  8. Assassin’s Creed: Nexus VR trailer shown. Game already released on Meta Quest 2 & 3 last week.
  9. Harmonium: The Musical trailer shown. Coming to Netflix Games & Game Pass. An accessible musical journey starring a little hard-of-hearing girl as the main character. Very unique to have a sign language game.
  10. Windblown trailer shown. Early Access 2024. By the creators of Dead Cells. Cartoony graphics style.

  19. Free God of War: Ragnarok Valhallah DLC announced in PS5 world premiere trailer for a new rogue-like mode. DLC release date is: December 12, 2023.
  20. Big Walk debut trailer shown. New game from the creators of Untitled Goose Game announced. “A new videogame for you and your friends.” Coming in 2025.
  21. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown story trailer shown. Demo coming a week before release. Release date is: January 18, 2024.
  22. Lego Fortnite Mode trailer for Fortnite shown. Came out earlier today. It plays like Minecraft with Lego graphics. We need a new mainline co-op Lego puzzle platformer game next year too!
  23. Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga song played live on stage. New gameplay footage shows fighting and exploration. The motion capture really makes everything look life-like. Coming to Xbox Game Pass for free on day one for Xbox Series X/S & Steam PC. Release date in 2024 (let’s hope so).
  24. Ghostwire Tokyo director started her own studio for her new Kemuri video game @unseentokyo. Teaser trailer shows it taking place in Japan with ninjas.
  25. No Rest for the Wicked world premiere trailer shown. Creators of Ori making a new 2.5D game. Coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 & PC (why not Switch?). Release date is: March 1, 2024.

  27. Bandai Namco Games announces a new Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi game titled Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. Break the heavens. PC Steam, Xbox Series X/S & PS5.
  28. Supermassive Games announces Dead by Daylight 3 spin-off The Casting of Frank Stone cinematic horror experience / game.
  29. Square Enix presents Visions of Mana, a brand new Secret of Mana game. A new Mana adventure is about to begin. Release date in 2024. Coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S & PC.
  30. Team Ninja announces a sword-fighting Japanese samurai game. Ronin: Rise of the Ninja. March 22, 2024. Coming to Playstation (and other platforms).
  31. Kojima Productions OD (Overdose) video game shows actor casting trailer. He enter the stage through the P.T. (Silent Hills) door, so this horror game will be what he could never finish at Konami? That’s just me hoping that, though. As he said himself, the game is “I want to make groundbreaking things. Microsoft Cloud immersive game.” Jordan Peele is on-board to write for OD, he’s made some of the best horror movies in recent years, my wife watches them all. He says it’s “Immersive and utterly terrifying. What he’s building here is unlike any other game, it’s going to be insane.”
  32. Jurassic Park Survival world premiere trailer shows someone left behind on Isla Nublar’s original Jurassic Park being chased by the classic dinosaurs. Alpha in-game footage shown too, looks great! Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S & PC.
  33. Fortnite announces Rocket Racing tie-in starting today.
  34. Black Myth Wukong trailer debuts. PC footage shown. “You, too, want to be an immortal?” Inspired by the Chinese story Journey to the West. August 20, 2024. Coming to all next-gen systems.
  35. Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Stop The Justice League new trailer shown. Everyone hates this game now that it’s become a microtransactions-filled online game. Release date is: February 2, 2024.
  36. Warframe: Whispers in the Walls next big update trailer shown. Game’s still going strong after 10 years. Quite the achievement for an online shooter. Update coming December 31, 2023.
  37. Banishers: New Eden story trailer shown. Save your wife from death & demons. Release date is: February 13, 2024.
  38. Ridley Scott Creative Group as part of EA Creatives and the Raised by Wolves actor ? announces 2.5D action-platformer game titled Zau: Tales of Kenzera. Coming to all platforms.
  39. Lost Records: Bloom & Rage (in the Life is Strange world) announced by Dont Nod. Four girls discover a purple glowing light hole in the ground (and get powers?). There will be awkward teenager scenes throughout this game. Life is hard and my parents just don’t understand me.
  40. Khazan: The First Berserker debut trailer shown. Cel-shaded battle fighting game.
  41. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth opera theme song sung on-stage with in-game footage of Part 2 of the FF7 remake series shown. The “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2” release date is: February 29, 2024.
  42. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth comes to Apex Legends with tie-in event and FF swords. 4-player co-op game. January 9, 2024.
  43. Ubisoft’s Skull & Bones pirate game finally gets a release date: February 16, 2024.
  44. Bethesda & Arkane announce a brand new IP with the Marvel’s Blade video game! “I don’t bite!” says Blade in the CGI trailer. Dinga Bakaka stars as Blade. Mature single player third-person action-adventure game.
  45. Lightspeed Studios industry vet’s new studio making a new IP. Last Sentinel trailer shows sci-fi world with robots, gunplay, saving scared kids, asian female protagonist in armor, in future. More info at:

  58. No Man’s Sky has been getting free updates for 10 years now to make the game great. The game s*cked at launch back then, but they more than made up for it by now.
