How to unlock all Mortal Kombat 1 characters? That question will be answered in this guide that shows you how and who to unlock to get the full roster of 38 characters in the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One & PC fighting game.

In total there are 23 Main Characters and 15 Kameo Characters. Of them 2 Main Characters and 5 Kameo Characters must be unlocked before they can be used, the rest are available from the beginning.

How To Unlock Characters In Mortal Kombat 1

The unlock requirements to get all 2 launch secret characters in Mortal Kombat 1:

• How To Unlock Shang Tsung: Pre-order to get Playable Character Shang Tsung.
• How To Unlock Havik: Complete the Main Kampaign Story Mode’s all 4 Acts.

The unlock requirements to get all 5 secret Kameo Fighters in Mortal Kombat 1:

• How To Unlock Scorpion (Kameo): Reach Profile Level 5.
• How To Unlock Sub-Zero (Kameo): Reach Profile Level 10.
• How To Unlock Kung Lao (Kameo): Reach Profile Level 15.
• How To Unlock Shujinko (Kameo): Reach Profile Level 20.
• How To Unlock Motaro (Kameo): Reach Profile Level 25.

Tip: The fastest way to increase player level is by playing Invasion Mode and always finish fights with a BRUTALITY (for final hit do an uppercut by holding DOWN+TRIANGLE / DOWN+Y). To speed it up further, set the game to 1 Round to Win, this can be done in Main Menu – Settings – Gameplay – Rounds to Win = 1. If you manage to get flawless victories (don’t take damage) you get an even bigger XP bonus. Reaching Profile Level 25 can be done in about 10 hours if playing Invasion Mode.

Note: Yes, you’re not mistaken. Some characters can be both kameo fighters and main roster fighters in the same match.

How To Get Future Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Characters

Warner Bros. Games will add many DLC characters in the future! Here’s what they said about it:

Kombat Pack 1 Content

“Purchase the “Mortal Kombat 1: Kombat Pack” and get 6 new DLC Fighters and 5 Kameo Fighters.”

At launch Kombat Pack 1 is only available as part of the Premium Edition, which costs $40 more than the base game, so that’s the premium you’re paying for the first DLC Pack.
