The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom How To Repair & Upgrade Your Weapons, Bows & Shields

Welcome to the The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Weapon, Bow & Shield Upgrade locations guide that helps you both repair & upgrade your weapons, bows & shields for free in the Nintendo Switch open-world action-adventure game.

How to repair & upgrade your Weapons, Bows & Shields in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Find a Rock Octorock, for example the one hiding (as a Rock) between two large grey boulders North-east of Goron City or at the foot of Death Mountain. Go stand in front of the Rock Octorock and drop any weapon, bow or shield that’s about to break (indicated by a red flashing) or that you want to repair from your Inventory screen. Right after dropping it, walk a little away from the Rock Octorock and it will suck up whatever you dropped and spit it back out fully repaired as brand new and with a newly upgraded “Durability Up” or “Attack Up” stat to make it even stronger, because it randomizes the modifier of it! Note that each Rock Octorock can only do this once per blood moon for one weapon, bow or shield, but it won’t work on Amiibo or Legendary weapons… However, you CAN repair Legendary Weapons if you temporarily attach them to a stick and merge them, then repair them, then go to Tarrey Town’s parts shop and ask him to break it apart again.

Tip: If you accidentally kill a Rock Octorock, don’t worry, he’ll come back to life during the next blood moon.

Note: Save your game before dropping your weapon. That way — if you don’t get the stat you like on your repaired weapon — you can reload the save to try again.

The Legend of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom has a brand new hidden mechanic to repair and upgrade your weapons, fused weapons, bows, and shields. Watch it being done in action right here…
