Return to Monkey Island Cheats List

Return to Monkey Island Cheat Codes

How to win the game at any time: Press Alt + W together at the same time on your keyboard.

Note: This jokey cheat worked in past Monkey Island games, however sometimes the code itself was different, like so: Press Ctrl + Alt + W or press Ctrl + W or press Shift + W.

Return to Monkey Island Unlocked Framerate (PC)

How to unlock the framerate: To quote one of the game’s developers Jennsand…

“We don’t support a fully unlocked FPS, but you can change the target framerate by adding the following to your prefs file:
targetFrameRate: 120
(or add whatever number you’d like [the engine limit is a 240 FrameRate])

You can find your prefs file here:
PC Windows: %AppData%\Roaming\Terrible Toybox\Return to Monkey Island
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Terrible Toybox/Return to Monkey Island

As for ultrawide:
We support up to an iPhone X resolution (up to 19.5:9), but not crazy wide stuff some rare gaming monitors have. If you’ve managed to do some GPU thing to make it wider, it shouldn’t break anything — there’s just a few bits of art that may not be perfectly clean once you get beyond our tested limit.”

Step-by-step how to change the framerate:

  1. Go to this folder: C:\Users(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Terrible Toybox\Return to Monkey Island
Please note: The “AppData” folder may not be visible if your Windows is set to hide hidden items. If that’s the case, please choose to ‘show hidden items’ in the folders toolbar/taskbar.
  2. Look for a file called “Prefs.json”.
  3. Open this file using a Notepad text editor.
  4. Add this line at the bottom: targetFrameRate: 120
  5. You may change the number to your desired target framerate, according to your monitor’s capability. The default is 60. You can set to 90, 120, 144, 180, 200, 240, whichever your heart desires.
  6. Click File and then click Save.
  7. Start your game and enjoy the new super high framerate.

Return to Monkey Island Touch Mode (Switch)

How to go from controller to touchscreen controls: Normally when you play the game, you have direct control of Guybrush with the left analog stick, and you can use the shoulder buttons and right analog stick to select points of interest. But if you want to get more hands-on, then if you tap on the Switch screen, it switches the game to Touch Mode. This allows you to use your fingers or a stylus to move around and select points of interest.
