Top 100 Japanese Console and Handheld Video Games of All-Time

Happy New Year! 😀 To close out the old year, Japanese television network TV Asahi ran a special TV broadcast where 50,000 players from around Japan voted in a poll for their favorite console and handheld video games. So you’ll notice these are all from Japanese developers.

The following “Top 100” list adds up all the votes. Nintendo clearly took the top position with a classic, but Nintendo and Square Enix both dominated the top 10 together with each having 5 of the 10 top spots!

So odd to see Zelda: Ocarina of Time being replaced as the millennial number one now being Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Well deserved of course, the Switch should get all the love it’s getting with it being a console & handheld hybrid! Last I heard the game amazingly sold over 26 million copies worldwide, so it’s bound to have lots of fans!
