The English civilization in Age of Empires 4 are mechanically the easiest to get into and most forgiving to play as. It allows you a very strong amount of safe tech upgrades, a strong farm economy to give you a relatively safe food source, amazing archers and strong men-in-arms (you can keep making Longbowmen). An overall safe and strong faction with most of its landmark buildings being keeps that act as amazing defensive buildings for resource expansions that also produce units.
