Tales of Arise Delayed Indefinitely

Bandai Namco has pushed back the release of Tales of Arise, the next entry in the long-running Tales role-playing game series, beyond 2020. While the game did not have a specific release date, the developer had planned to launch Tales of Arise on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One sometime this year. The game does not have a new release window.

Tales of Arise producer Yusuke Tomizawa said that the development team adapted to working remotely on the game amid the coronavirus pandemic, but that the team needed more time to realize its vision. Tomizawa said in a statement:

“The goal for Tales of Arise is to provide a familiar but innovative gameplay experience to fans of the series, while pushing the technical envelope to deliver a high level of graphical quality to impress both long-time players and those who have never played a Tales of game. Development on the title has move steadily forward in 2020 as we overcame challenges along the way.

While COVID-19 has affected some aspects of development, we’ve done our best to adapt to the situation and have implemented remote development capabilities for our team.

However, to achieve the quality and provide the gorgeous experience we envision for our players, we will need more time to realize that vision and therefore we decided to delay the launch timing for Tales of Arise.

A new launch window update will be provided once we have more details to share.”

Tales of Arise was announced in 2019 as the follow-up to 2016’s Tales of Berseria. The game is set on the planet Dahna, which is ruled by the nearby planet Rena, which has pillaged Dahna of its natural resources and subjugated its people. Arise focus on two people, each born on a different planet, “looking to change their fate and create a new future.”
