Developed by BlueTwelve, the game began as a two-person effort called HK Project in 2015. The game is being published by Annapurna Interactive.

“Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly,” Annapurna Interactive said in a news release. “Players will play as a stray cat, roaming surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures. Lost, alone and separated from family, players must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten cybercity and find the way home.”

The trailer shown during the livestream seems to be set in an Asian city where humans have gone extinct. Spray paint in an alleyway read “RIP Humans.” There are homeless robots sitting along the side of the street. Inside an old barbershop one robot is busy repairing another. In the final frame the cat is shown wearing a tiny backpack.

Stray will be released some time in 2021.
