This new Pokemon Generation 5 & 8 Research Tasks bonus has been given a release date of June 3, 2020. There is no hurry to complete the tasks, because they are not timed tasks, so you can start & finish them at any time. That said, the wild Unova spawns and Galarian 7km egg hatches do only coincide with the length of this final Throwback event, until June 8, 2020, at 1PM your local time.
Where to find the Sinnoh Research Tasks once the event begins?
These Timed Research tasks will appear as lines in the Today View tab of the Field Tasks menu. You can access it in the bottom-right of your screen by clicking on the circular button with the binoculars symbol on it.

Galarian Evolution Tip: It’s possible to evolve Galarian Meowth, Galarian Zigzagoon, and Galarian Darumaka into their Galarian evolved forms called Galarian Perrserker, Galarian Linoone, and Galarian Darmanitan (it’s unknown if that also includes it’s Zen Mode variant).
How to catch new Gen 5 & 8 Pokemon 3 different ways:
- Galarian Stunfisk will be making its Pokémon GO debut! Find it in the wild, in raids, and as a Throwback Challenge Champion 2020 Special Research reward encounter.
- The following Pokémon will also be making their Pokémon GO debut and hatching from 7 km Eggs along with their usual forms: Galarian Meowth, Galarian Zigzagoon, Galarian Darumaka, and Galarian Stunfisk. You’ll also be able to evolve Galarian Meowth, Galarian Zigzagoon, and Galarian Darumaka into their Galarian evolved forms!
- Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region will be appearing more frequently in the wild. – Let’s hope this includes plenty of Roggenrola and Axew!
