Kingdom Come: Deliverance tells the story of Henry, the son of a blacksmith who lives a peaceful rural life until a mercenary raid burns his village to the ground. Henry is one of few to survive the raid but is left without a home or family. He enters the service of resistance leader Lord Radzig Kobyla and becomes embroiled in fighting a bloody civil war.

The events of Kingdom Come: Deliverance take place in the Holy Roman Empire in the aftermath of the death of Emperor Charles IV. Charles’ son Wenceslas has inherited the crown of Bohemia, but he is a naive self-indulgent man unable to live up to the standards set by his father. Wenceslas’ half-brother Sigismund the Red Fox, king of Hungary, senses his weakness and sees an opportunity to expand his own dominion. He visits Wenceslas under a pretence of friendship, only to kidnap him and begin plundering the kingdom of Bohemia, including ordering the mercenary raid that destroys Henry’s village.
