Destiny 2 Legendary Shards Farming Guide

Welcome to the Destiny 2 Legendary Shards Farming Guide. This guide shows the best methods and locations to farm Legendary Shards, the currency used to buy items from Xur. Legendary Shards get dropped by defeated bosses or are received from certain chests and as rewards for completing in-game missions. Each Legendary Shard is a remnant of a powerful item, used to improve gear or trade for other items.

Destiny 2 Legendary Shards Farming Guide

Farming Method #1: Dismantle Weapons & Armor:
• Dismantle Legendary gear to receive 2 Legendary Shards. — Obtain Legendary gear by repeatedly completing the early-game easier Strikes.
• Dismantle Exotic gear to receive 10 Legendary Shards. — Obtain Legendary gear by repeatedly completing the early-game easier Strikes.

Note: Remember that when using the above shown Legendary Shard farming spots in Destiny 2, it’s going to take quite a few hours no matter which way you slice it. Bungie can also opt to patch it away at any time.

Farming Method #2: Do In-game Activities:
• Reward for completing the Weekly Nightfall Strikes (and Strike bosses as a rare drop).
• Reward for completing Cayde-6’s Flashpoints.
• Reward for completing Raid Encounters (and bosses).
• Reward for finding & opening Raid Chests.
• Rare reward for finding & opening Planetary Chests in the Patrol Zones.
• Reward for finding & opening Lost Sector Chests that you discover out on Patrols.

Note: Visit Cayde-6 at the Farm or the Tower to receive reports on the locations of a couple of Chests.
