Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Walkthrough

Through fluid, first-person movement and combat, experience the most immersive action adventure game of this generation.

Follow Faith, a daring free runner, as she fights for freedom in the city of Glass. What appears to be an elegant, high-tech city on the outside, has a terrible secret hidden within. Explore every corner from the highest beautifully lit rooftops to the dark and gritty tunnels below. The city is huge, free to roam and Faith is at the center of it all. Through the first-person perspective, combine her fluid movement and advanced combat with the city’s surroundings to master the environment and uncover the conspiracy. This is Mirror’s Edge for this generation, raising the bar in action-adventure games.

Key Game Features:

  • First-Person Action – Get up close with your enemies. Use your freedom of movement and martial arts combat in conjunction with the environment to experience fluid first-person action unlike any other.
  • Explore the City of Glass – Roam the beautiful, high-tech city at your own pace, and unlock its many different districts. Run free and explore every corner from the highest, glass made skyscrapers to the hidden underground tunnels.
  • Witness the Rise of Faith – Brought up on her own on the margin of the totalitarian society, Faith found refuge amongst an outsider group called the Runners. Learn about her origin story, and take part in her journey as she stands up against oppression and becomes the catalyst that can change the City of Glass forever.

The Main Characters:

  • Faith Connors – A self-assured thrill-seeker, Faith Connors is one of the most skilled Runners in Glass. Her carefree attitude cannot last forever though. Some day she’ll need to face up to the Conglomorate as well as her own troubled past.
As a Runner, Faith possesses peak athletic skills as well as vast knowledge of the districts in the city of Glass. She is a skilled fighter and her martial arts abilities enables her to handle the city’s oppressive security forces. Though Runners have an ambivalent attitude towards technology, Faith will make use of a couple of gadgets to gain unique traversal opportunities and a connection to the Runner network, helping her navigate the city.
Faith was only seven years old on that clear November day when her life changed irreversibly. A peaceful protest against corporate enchroachment escalated into full-scale riots on the streets of Glass, resulting in the death of Faith’s entire family. She was saved by Noah, who came to raise and inspire her to become a Runner. These days Faith cares only for Noah, the small cabal of Runners around her, and the next run. But events will force her to take a stand in the fight against the oppressive authorities.
  • Gabriel Kruger – The ruthless head of KrugerSec is best not messed with. Kruger’s contempt for those living off the Grid is palpable and his hatred for the resistance, whom he relentlessly hunts, is immense. But within Kruger there are also feelings of conflict and guilt, stemming from the death of a loved one.
  • Noah – After the November Riots, Noah Kekai suddenly found himself with a child to raise – the daughter of Martin and Erika Connors. Now, the brooding Noah is one of the most powerful elders of the Runner cabals. He loves Faith as if she were his own and he has raised her to be prepared for a harsh world where softness can be lethal.
  • Birdman – Birdman was a Runner long before there was a word for it. At first, it was simply a way for him to get around, but when the Conglomerate began to reshape Glass he saw his way of life threatened and started doing runs for the resistance. He came to inspire others, which in turn gave rise to the cabals. Though he still runs occasionally, he is now way past his prime and contemplation and pigeon-feeding have become a higher priority.
  • Dogen – Specializing in black market goods and contraband, Dogen cares mostly about money and mischief. Conflicts between the city factions hold no interest to him beyond a steady source of income. Dogen can always be trusted to get a job done, but he shows allegiance to no-one but himself.
  • Icarus – The competitive, independent Icarus rivals Faith in both skill and cockiness. They both compete for the affection of Noah, and the position as top Runner in the city. Icarus’ true background is something he keeps well hidden, and only Noah is aware of the secret.
  • Nomad – Nomad is no Runner, though he too lives on the rooftops. An outcast by choice and artist by trade, Nomad wages his own little war against the Conglomerate using his spray-cans and sense of humor. He and Faith have been close friends for many years.

The Factions:

  • The Runners – The Runners are a special group of voluntary offGrids who’ve decided not to be part of the Conglomerate machine. Living on the rooftops and grouping together in tight-knit Cabals they race across the urban landscapes, performing burglaries and courier jobs for those willing to pay. The Corporate Houses secretly depend on the Runners for their constant scheming and though KrugerSec has a standing order to neutralize any Runner on sight, some claim that they are not clamping down as hard on them as they could.
  • The Conglomerate – The Conglomerate consists of 13 corporations, each run by a powerful family or Corporate House, who together rule the nation of Cascadia. Locked in a constant power struggle, the Houses are prepared to go to extreme lengths to advance their positions within the Conglomerate hierarchy. Among the corporations can be found the security forces of KrugerSec, the tech specialists at Silvine Systems, and Elysium Corp., who specializes in medical research and healthcare.
  • Black November – Black November is a resistance movement led by Rebecca Thane, once a prominent protest leader, who turned to violent methods following the November riots almost two decades ago. Constantly hunted by KrugerSec, Black November do what they can to terrorize the authorities and incite a general revolution among the employs.
They strive to avoid civilian casualties, but lately Rebecca has been hinting that all regular employs are silent supporters of the Conglomerate and the tyranny. Therefore they too should be made targets so that they are forced to understand what their silent consent is causing.
  • The Corporations – On the busy streets of Glass, the corporations of the ruthless Conglomerate rule supreme. Behind their glossy exterior lurks a repressive and authoritarian regime, where a perfect mix of fear and envy has turned its citizens into willing participants of their own enslavement. The Corporations include…
    – Kruger Holding – A security, weapons manufacture, and resource mining giant, Kruger Holding is the largest and most influential corporation within the Conglomerate. Its main subsidiary KrugerSec handles all security in Cascadia, and its personnel enforce order on the streets and rooftops of the vast, sprawling cities. KrugerSec is led by Gabriel Kruger and has its corporate headquarters in Glass.
    – Everdyne Energy – Everdyne provides Cascadia with energy from several different sources, all of them nearing depletion and most of them causing heavy pollution. This growing lack of vital resources is one of the most well-kept secrets in the entire country. Everdyne also handle the extensive desalination needed to provide Cascadia with enough fresh water, and here too their resources and facilities are stretched beyond the breaking point.
    – Pirandello Group – Pirandello clothes the citizens of Cascadia. They set the trends, decide the latest fashion, and further cements the strata in society by offering different clothes ranges to the Corporate Houses and regular employs, making sure the House range is priced way above the pay-level of a regular employee. The clothing lines are complemented with beauty and hygiene-products in the same price-ranges. In Cascadia the way you dress and smell is an immediate class identifier.

Mission 1: Release

Welcome to the Mirror’s Edge Catalyst walkthrough!

Xcage will be your guide showing you around the game’s areas. Starting with the gameplay tutorial section of the game (these missions are titled Release, Old Friends & Be Like Water); After you get out of jail, you must make your way through the warehouse to meet up with your runner friends.

Mission 1 Description: In the City of Glass, the Conglomerate rules supreme. All regular citizens have been made willing slaves, lured into an endless race for status and wealth. – But some choose to live off the grid.

Runners work as couriers and cat burglars. The rooftops belong to them, as long as they don’t openly challenge the authorities, the Conglomerate turns a blind eye. – For almost 20 years the status quo has held. But times are about to change. In this pristine city, ruled by a ruthless Conglomerate. Faith, a skilled Runner is reluctantly drawn into an anti-Conglomerate struggle.

The City of Glass Locations:

  • Anchor – The Anchor district is one of the most affluent areas in Glass, its many tall buildings standing as proud heralds of the powerful corporations based here. Full of the city’s most popular nightclubs, young citizens make frequent visits to “The Anchor” for nightlife and shopping. One spectacular construction project within Anchor is the gigantic Bauble Mall. When finished, the Bauble will be the most opulent shopping centre in Cascadia – a true monument to the success of the Conglomerate way of life.
  • Downtown – Located in the very centre of Glass, Downtown stands as the proud modernised centre of the city. Among the busy and dense streets you’ll find a slew of fashionable boutiques and notable sights like the Elysium Corporation building – home to the world’s leading medical research professionals.
  • The View – A prosperous residential area dedicated to “upwardly mobile” citizens, Ocean Glass View, or “The View”, is by many considered to be the final step before getting invited to Sky City. If you’re looking to get away from the intensity of Downtown or The Anchor, The View is well worth a visit. Here you can walk along the seaside promenade, picnic, and perhaps visit The Marina. On free days it’s not uncommon to see families enjoying the beach while their children play in the surf.

Mission 2: Back in the Game

Mission 2 Description: Noah has tasked you with breaking into Elysium Labs where you are to steal data about a new type of enzyme wanted by one of their competitors. Icarus is to watch from the outside, making sure it all goes as planned. You have a shotgun with you, a one-off hacking tool that you just need to place on the right console, and the software inside will handle the rest.

This is your first real mission, and the scrip payment should be good. A small step toward paying off your debt to Dogen.

The Different Enemy Types:

  • The Guardians – The most common face of KrugerSec. A constant reminder to the employs to closely follow Conglomerate policy and keep job performance high. Runners have been dealing with them for years and the Guardians offer little challenge to even a relatively new cabal member.
  • The Producers – Resistant to damage and able to counter or retaliate against repeated attacks, their increased level of competence and protective gear make them a serious threat when found in groups.
  • The Shock Protectors – Shock Protectors are trained and ready to handle large groups or difficult employs or loCastes. Equipped with the Kinetic Pacifier, one or two can effectively corral large groups and force them to the ground.
  • The Enforcers – Enforcers are the special tactics team of KrugerSec, trained in tactical positioning and high damage ranged combat. Used for external military purposes they have only been present in correctional facilities or as Gabriel Kruger’s personal bodyguards. This is about to change.

Mission 3: Mischief Maker

Mission 3 Description: With the help of the glitchWare Nomad sent you, you are now able to get through the fans around Zephyr station. And it also seems he has some new scheme in the works involving the Conglomerate. If nothing else, you can always count on him to get you into trouble.

Talk to him and see what’s cooking.

Tip: Vary your attacks, it will make you harder to counter or block.

Mission 4: Savant Extraordinaire

Mission 4 Description: Noah asked you to take the drive you stole to a hacker named Plastic, who turned out to be an eccentric teenage girl. She’s deduced that the thing comes from AMNISTAT, Cascadia’s belligerent neighbor to the northwest. But in order to break through the complex encryption she will need more processing power.

She has sent you to an ALLCOM facility nearby to facilitate this for her. Once inside you need to redirect a data sluice, and that should be it. Or so Plastic claims…

Hint: When you have Focus Shield you cannot get hit, except by counter attacks.

Mission 5: Benefactor

Mission 5 Description: You’ve finally faced Dogen, the crime czar of Glass, and the meeting went well, all things considering. He still has the pattern drawing made by your mother, and you still owe him big for past mistakes. But Dogen definitely seemed intrigued by the Reflection Blueprint, and he might be willing to exchange it for both your debt and the drawing.

While he investigates further he wants you to do a job for him though. The Anansi Corporation has drawn his ire and you are to teach them a lesson. Before you go do that, first talk to Noah at the Lair.

Note: Clear the Gridnode in an area to unlock Fast Travel to the nearest safe houses.
