Shadow Complex Remastered has been announced for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, coming in early 2016 (it’s not Shadow Complex 2, but awesome!). The game is available now on PC as a FREE DOWNLOAD throughout December 2015! This is a thank-you to all the Shadow Complex fans from developer Chair Entertainment and being offered for free via Epic Games! The retail PC version will also hit in early 2016 alongside the next-gen console versions.

Shadow Complex is a Metroid-inspired side-scrolling action game originally released exclusively for Xbox Live Arcade (Xbox 360) in 2010. The game is set in modern times, think Metal Gear, but action-focused and a side-scroller… But with polygonal graphics where you occasionally can shoot or look into the background/foreground.
Shadow Complex was one of the first massive hits for Xbox Live Arcade, and one of the first truly original exclusives that showed that the online distribution service could move beyond offering retro-arcade, twitch gaming experiences.
Shadow Complex was developed by Chair Entertainment, an American-based company from Utah made up of ex-developers who created the failed “Advent Rising” title for Original Xbox, PC & OnLive. Advent Rising was a highly ambitious third-person action game whose commercial failure nearly sunk publisher Majesco Entertainment.
Chair is also responsible for the oft-forgotten underwater shooter “Undertow” (Xbox Live Arcade, 2007) and the iOS-exclusive, $20+ million-selling Infinity Blade series including Infinity Blade I, Infinity Blade II & Infinite Blade III.

Shadow Complex was one of my most-wanted titles when it came out (as a huge fan of Metroidvania games & side-scrolling action platformers) but I never did get around to playing it.
I wondered what happened to Chair, although I didn’t realize they had been hard at work on the popular Infinity Blade series for mobile.
It’s good to see them back, and totally amazing that they are gifting Shadow Complex Remastered to their fans FOR FREE on PC throughout December. What an awesome thing to do!
