My New Super Smash Bros. Airbrushed Wall Mural
Are you a fan of Nintendo’s long-running Super Smash Brothers fighting game series? Then you’re going to love my secret home project: An airbrushed Super Smash Bros. Wall Mural! ๐
Well, I love it anyway, and I thought you might get a kick out of it as well. Take a look at how it went down…
* First, I came across a beautiful piece of art on the official Nintendo Benelux website that was used as promotional material for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U. It had all my favorite characters (Mario, Link, Samus, Pac-Man, Sonic, Mega Man, Donkey Kong, Charizard) and more! It came in a massive 11000×8000 8K resolution, so it had all the character details I was looking for.
* Second, I was talking to a friend about how I wanted an artist to draw on my workroom wall with airspray, since I recently painted my home’s walls white. He mentioned a relative who did that work professionally, who had done Super Mario and other video game-related paint jobs before. A happy coincidence!
* Third, contact was made with Wilmar from Airbrush & Zo and he’d be able to tackle this Wall Mural project during the Summer.
Next, I’ll show you a photo gallery from the project’s beginning to completion, so you can see the entire process.
By the end the wall painting impressively ended up taking over almost the entire wall, at a massive size of 2 meters tall and 3,5 meters wide / 6.5 feet tall and 11.5 feet wide!! ๐ฎ
Here’s how the Wall Mural started out with a simple outline sketch.
The early days of the wall drawing in progress. The red and blue lines in the background will make the characters look in motion.
Mid-way through the colors really start to pop out at you.
By the end it felt like you could almost touch each character’s clothing fabric (or armor).
The epic endresult in all its action-packed glory! ๐
TA-DAA! What do you think of my Smash Bros. Wall Mural?
And what type of drawing would you choose for your room? Video game or otherwise.
For example he also drew this King Kong landscape on my stairway walls by hand. I think the layered 3D effect coming at you is awesome.
