How to find missing Key Items?:
– 12 of them will come automatically over the course of the story by just beating all missions and important (yellow) Side Ops.
2 for getting S-ranks in all missions. There are 12 hard difficulty missions that unlock one key item (extreme, subsistence, total stealth missions) and 38 normal missions + prologue that unlock another.
– 2 for Fulton extracting 1000 enemies.
2 for finding all invoices / fast travel points (there are 21 of them).
– 1 for marking 500 enemies.
– 1 for finding the first aid manual collectible.

In addition to the key items you must also obtain the 27 blueprints to unlock the ‘Collector’ trophy / achievement. None of them are missable. You can check your progress anytime in the iDroid app by opening the tabs “Mother Base” – “Database” – “Documentation”.

Does the game save each Key Items you collect?: Yes, the game will automatically save the Invoices you just collected. But as always it’s of course recommended you save your game (and thus your collectibles progress) before you quit playing.
