Game-Breaking Bug
Konami has put out a warning you should NOT use Quiet as a Buddy while playing “Episode 29: Metallic Archaea” or “Episode 42: (Extreme) Metallic Archaea”, because it may corrupt your save file! 🙁
Here’s the official press release from Konami with the glitch description:
[Important] Do not use Quiet while playing Mission 29 or 42, it may corrupt your save file!
Please RT to spread the word!

“Regarding game progress being stopped in ‘METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN’ under specific circumstances.
In “METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN” which was released on September 1st, 2015 there is a possibility that the game stops progress if having Quiet as a buddy while playing “Mission 29” or “Mission 42”. This situation can be avoided by not using Quiet as a buddy while playing either “Mission 29” or “Mission 42″.
We deeply apologize, and appreciate your patience for further announcements regarding this issue.
This issue is known to be present for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Steam.”
How To Fix The Glitch:
– For now to be safe go play Episodes 29 and 42 with any other Buddy like D-Dog, D-Horse or D-Walker instead.
– In the near-future a patch will automatically be pushed out to your console of choice or Steam account with a game update that will fix this savefile bug. No date confirmed yet, but it usually takes them within a week to fix such issues.
