“#FE” Final Name of Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem? Debut Wii U Gameplay Footage

#FE (Pronounced: “Hashtag Fire Emblem”) is the codename for “Genei Ibun Roku #FE” or “Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem” (Pronounced: “Shin Megami Tensei Cross Fire Emblem”) as it’s otherwise called. Confusing non-final codenames aside, this is a Atlus-developed Wii U JRPG crossover that mixes the characters from Nintendo’s Fire Emblem universe into the demonic JRPG world of the Shin Megami Tensei.

Key #FE: Genei Ibun Roku Features:

* Collaboration that blends the Shin Megami Tensei series with Fire Emblem characters.

* “Mirages”—beings of immeasurable power hailing from another dimension—have begun invading our world. Some are evil, but others are drawn to humans with tremendous creative potential and have shared their powers to guard humanity.

* Main characters fight as Mirage Masters and, at the same time, have big dreams to become great entertainers. They polish their singing and acting skills in the entertainment business in their daily life, and work as artists.

* Young heroes must confront not only the invading Mirages but also the world of entertainment as they fight their way to stardom.

I do not have enough experience with either franchise to really say much about #FE, but I am extremely happy to see a game like this being made for the Wii U.

It is also quite rare to see Nintendo crossovers, even though they DO happen (Such as with “Pokemon Conquest” for 3DS and “Hyrule Warriors” for Wii U, both of which crossed over with Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors franchises); with #FE, they seem to be happening at an even greater frequency now.

Which is a really interesting development. Hopefully this game sells well and encourages even more of this kind of experimentation by Nintendo with 3rd party developers.

Do you like what you’ve seen of “#FE”? Or does it stray too far from both franchises to be attractive?
