Dead Rising: Watchtower, a new live-action film based directly on the Capcom Dead Rising videogames, will be released exclusively for Sony’s Crackle digital video service on March 27th, 2015!

The movie stars: Jesse Metcalfe (from Dallas), Meghan Ory (from Intelligence, Once Upon a Time), Virginia Madsen (from SIDEWAYS), Dennis Haysbert (from MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN), and Rob Riggle (from LET’S BE COPS, 21 JUMP STREET). The feature is written by Tim Carter, who will also produce with Tomas Harlan under their Contradiction Films banner.
Watchtower takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak.
When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy.
Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage play an important role in the story’s narrative.
Meh. Looks like a pretty typical, low-budget zombie flick.
It might be fun for a popcorn movie-night however.
Still, do we REALLY need another zombie movie in the world? Really? Like… REALLY GUYS?!
I digress. It’s still cool to see Capcom trying their hand at bringing another game franchise into the movie realm.
At least this one looks like it is staying extremely true to the source material, something that doesn’t always happen. So that’s definitely a plus. We’ll have to wait and see if anyone actually watches the movie though.
