Codename Steam Release Date Announced (3DS). Amiibo Support Adds Fire Emblem Characters

The Codename Steam release date is March 13, 2014 exclusively for Nintendo 3DS. President Abe Lincoln to the rescue!

Check out this Amiibo trailer for Codename Steam.

Codename Steam is the newest title from developer Intelligent Systems, the strategy experts behind big Nintendo hits like Fire Emblem, Advance Wars and RPG Paper Mario, who are offering an all-new Steampunk Strategy game for the 3DS.

As you can see in the trailer above, those who play the game on the “New 3DS” systems coming out this year, will be able to use Amiibo figures from the Fire Emblem series (from the Amiibo Super Smash Bros. Wii U line) to bring those characters directly into battle. If your Fire Emblem fighters fall in battle, you can tap the Amiibo again onto the touchscreen to revive them.

Codename Steam is an all-new mix of Turn-Based Strategy with real-time elements and a third-person shooter viewpoint, which will remind gamers of Sega’s PlayStation Strategy RPG series “Valkyria Chronicles”.

“So the president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, leads an elite team of characters from classic literature on a mission to fight aliens, all while using the power of steam?” – Yes youtube commenter, that’s exactly right!

“Nintendo are the guys who know how to do things you didn’t even know you wanted.” Indeed, youtube commenter, indeed!

* Harness the power of steam, which plays a vital role to power the world, including powering movement and weapon use. Managing steam reserves is key to strategy.

* Battle through alien-infested maps using a four-member team comprised of diverse characters that have unique abilities and weapons.

Codename Steam is such a breath of fresh air!

It wasn’t until Fire Emblem: Awakening, another Nintendo 3DS title made by Intelligent Systems, that I played my very first Strategy RPG.
Thanks to that game, I never knew that I could enjoy Tactical games so much! This has gotten me hyped up for a game like Codename Steam!

Plus, let’s face it, the fact that Abraham Lincoln may be a future Super Smash Bros. character is reason enough to purchase Codename Steam at launch on March 13th, is it not?!

Very happy to see Nintendo still making really unique and fun products like this. I hope it sells well to encourage them to make more games like Codename Steam!

Are you looking forward to playing Codename Steam?
