Clock Tower’s Spiritual Sequel Night Cry Announced as Japanese Horror Game

If you’ve been waiting for Clock Tower 4 the past 12 years, I’ve got great news for you! A spiritual sequel to the Clock Tower Japanese horror game series has been announced as “Night Cry”. The J-horror game is coming to PlayStation Vita and smartphones with the game focusing on point-and-click touch screen controls. The release date will be around Halloween; on October 31st, 2015 in time for Clock Tower’s 20th anniversary.

Watch the first Night Cry trailer here:

The debut trailer’s description reads: “Old evil rises in this first official teaser directed by Japanese director Takashi Shimizu.” You might know him from The Grudge movies.

Developer Nude Maker‘s producer on the game is Joseph Chou and the director and designer is Hifumi Kono. Music will be composed by Nobuko Toda. The Tokyo-based company only has around 10 employees.

The game’s story is described as: “It will be set on a luxurious cruise liner in the middle of the ocean, which becomes a site of inescapable horror as a murderer begins to pick off the crew and passengers. You play as one of the survivors looking to solve the mystery of this murderer while trying to survive.”

The official “Project Scissors” Twitter account (the game’s working title) also revealed “a sneak peek at Masahiro Ito’s monster design in Night Cry” asking readers “Masahiro Ito drew a sketch of Night Cry’s antagonist Scissorwalker. Are you ready to see it?”. You might know Masahiro Ito as the creator of Pyramid Head! 😀

No further details were announced. But there is a Siliconera interview with more quotes from the dev team.

Somehow I doubt this game is just about a little boy having a nightmare, after which his mom comes into his bedroom to console him and all is well again. 😛

Are you excited to get scared stiff by Night Cry?
