Top 10 Bestselling Video Games Worldwide in Week 50, 2014

What were the top 10 bestselling video games in America, Japan and Europe this week? Thanks to Amazon online sales data here are the video games that are the hottest worldwide right now.

What follows is a listing of the Top 10 bestsellers per region, for all systems combined.

North America’s Top 10 Games:

    3. Just Dance 2015 (Wii)

    6. Assassin’s Creed Unity – Xbox One Console Bundle (Xbox One)
    7. Halo: The Master Chief Collection (Xbox One)
    8. NBA 2K15 (Xbox One)
    9. NBA 2K15 (PS4)
    10. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox One)

The hype is real for months now! The Super Smash Bros. series has made its portable & console debuts on the Nintendo 3DS & Wii U in America, Canada, Europe, Australia and the rest of the world.

When it debuted in Japan on 3DS it immediately sold over 1 million copies in its 1st weekend & 1.7 million so far! And in the new regions it has sold an additional 1.4 million in its first week on sale. This made for a worldwide total of 3.22 million copies sold after a month of being out globally!

We should get updated figures after the Holidays, but the Wii U version is off to a good start in the USA as well, with 710,000 sold across retail & digital. For each copy of the Wii U game sold, an accompanying Amiibo figure was sold as well! 😮

Yo-kai Watch 2 is getting a third version titled “Yo-kai Watch 2: Headliner” (similar to what Pokemon does). On top of the regular game it adds a new story that ties-in to the December movie titled “Yo-kai Watch the Movie: It’s the Secret of Birth, Meow!” The exclusive bonus Yo-kai creatures new in this version are: The “Jibakoma with an ultra-rare Z Medal” in the boxed retail edition, or the “Masked Nyaan” in the downloadable edition.

The biggest seller among the blockbuster games has to be Grand Theft Auto V. On last-gen consoles it managed to sell through a massive 34 million copies! Now the new-gen consoles get an upgraded version that is once again selling like hotcakes… with a couple of million copies sold in its first few weeks on the market.

Worldwide Top Games Per System:

  • Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS kick *ss to the 1st spot on the 3DS chart.
  • Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U stays on first place on the Wii U chart.
  • Just Dance 2015 wins a dance-off for the #1 prize on the Wii chart.
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare returns on the Xbox 360 & PS3 charts.
  • The Assassin’s Creed Unity Xbox One Bundle stays high atop the Xbox One chart.
  • NBA 2K15 returns on the PS4 chart.
  • The Sims 4: Limited Edition returns on the PC chart.
  • The Borderlands 2 PlayStation Vita Bundle is number 1 on the PS Vita chart.
  • Pokemon Black & White Version 2 return on the shiny #1 spot of the DS chart.
  • Lastly, The Sims 3: Seasons Expansion Pack makes a festive comeback at #1 on the Mac chart.
