Part 1: Isle of Nex: Shipwreck Beach

Welcome to the Legend of Grimrock 2 walkthrough! 😀

Just like with the original Legend of Grimrock walkthrough, Doug returns as your voice-over commentator (with some help from Tony too) to show you around the game’s areas and help you get solutions for the dungeon puzzles.

In Legend of Grimrock 2, a group of prisoners have shipwrecked on the secluded Isle of Nex. You must overcome horrible monsters, mysterious puzzles and deadly traps devised by the ominous mastermind of the island. Are you ready to uncover the secrets of Nex?

Open Gate Puzzle Solution: After beating the turtle and finding the key on Shipwreck Beach, you can now open your first gate. In the next section you’ll find the first puzzle. To open the gate you’ll have to throw a rock onto the back of the two pressure plates near the closed gate to open it. – Don’t stand on either one, position yourself in front of the nearest one to throw the rock at the back one.

Tip: Right click with your mouse on the attack panel icons to perform an attack (or use an item). – For example, at the very start of the game when you’re trapped in a prison cage, you must use the wooden stick in your inventory to attack the prison cell door to open it.

Hint: Use the W, A, S & D keys on your keyboard to move and Q & E to turn.

Part 2: X Marks The Spot

The Island Master has left us a friendly letter with the following challenge:

“Dear Visitor, Welcome to my island! I hope your journey was not too detrimental to your health. I think you will find this island to be the most wonderful, yet the most perilous place on Earth. – I don’t have high hopes about your survival, but maybe you can prove me wrong. Better equip yourself before the night falls.”

X Marks The Spot Gate Puzzle Solution: In this second gate opening puzzle, put down stuff from your inventory (like turtle meat, sticks & rocks) in the shape of an X on 5 of the 9 pressure plates in front of the gate. After the gate opens, you can safely pick up your stuff again for your inventory.

Tip: Press the Tab key on your keyboard to access the in-game map.

Blue Crystal Saving Tip: Outside of the Quick Save feature the game has, there are also big blue floating crystals to find in the game world. This “Crystal of Life” you have to touch for it to heal wounds and restore dead champions back to life. Beware, its power needs time to recharge.

Part 3: Guardian Challenge: Viper Roots Boss Fight

After finding the Horn of Summoning in the first dungeon in the beach area, you’ll now be able to return to the surface and stand in the rock circle to summon the Guardian for a Challenge. Here begins the Viper Roots boss fight, after which we can enter Twigroot Forest.

Tip: You can quickly change in between two sets of wielded items by clicking buttons labeled I and II (right under each character’s avatar) or by pressing on your keyboard’s X key.

Part 4: Twigroot Tunnels

Let’s explore the Twigroot Tunnels.

Tip: You’re actually playing as a party of four, where two characters are on the front and two on the back. The marching formation can be changed by dragging the portraits (character avatars) to a different spot on the bottom-right of your screen.
