Saving Wyatt from Deathshead in “Chapter 1: Deathshead’s Compound” gives you the ability to pick locks, which grants you access to certain navigation routes and armor upgrades.

Finding all 10 Armor Upgrade locations and picking them up will help unlock the following:
* Find all the Armor Upgrades in the Wyatt Timeline will unlock the maximum double Armor Pickup Value. Each collected Armor Upgrade increases your maximum Armor defense by 10 Armor Points, until you max it out at 200 Armor Points.

How to find missing Armor Upgrades?: In-game the Armor Upgrades will be hidden in locked closets and such. Walk up to each locked closet and the locking picking icon will appear for you to take action to open up the door. Once you finish the lock picking sequence the door will open. Inside you’ll see the actual Armor Upgrade looks like a bronze statue of a soldier holding an armored shield (with a brown-ish glow around it) that you can pick up to collect when you stand next to it. It can be confirmed as being Armor Upgrades simply by walking up to & looking at it, as the on-screen icon will then indicate you can press the action button/key (X on Xbox / Square on PlayStation) to pick up the Armor Upgrade.

Tip: By holding down the back/select-button you can see how many collectibles you have found in the current mission.

Note: Although no collectibles are missable, you can search for missing items via chapter select at any time during or after completing the story. In chapter select you can see how many collectibles you have found per level. You can of course also open up the collectible menu while playing a chapter.

PS: Your maximum armor gained falls short if you don’t have any Armor Upgrade, then you’ll get +5 armor for each helmet you collect. But if you have a level 10 Armor Upgrade, then you’ll get +10 armor for every helmet you collect.

Does the game save each Armor Upgrade you collect?: Yes, the game will automatically save the Armor Upgrades you just collected (granted you picked up the Armor Upgrade you encounter), so you don’t have to play to the next checkpoint or the end of the chapter. After picking up each collectible you can safely quit the mission without losing collectibles progress, and your progress even carries over to a brand new game. Which is ideal when you’re playing on a higher difficulty level on your second playthrough, since you can then max out both your Armor AND your Health (check the list at the top of this page to see we have guides for both).
