What’s the story?

Oh no! The stork was on the way to deliver these famous baby brothers, but then Baby Luigi was kidnapped by Kamek! Step into the boots of helpful Yoshi, pop Baby Mario snug on your back and head out on a colourful adventure to reunite the little Bros.

Yoshi is back and he’s bustin’ out the big eggs. Yoshi’s good old Flutter Jump, Ground Pound and egg-throwing return, along with new abilities and challenges that take advantage of the features of the Nintendo 3DS. You can use massive eggs called Mega-Eggs to destroy blocks and pipes, revealing secrets such as coins and hidden keys. The more things you destroy, the higher the Mega-Egg gauge goes, netting you extra lives in the process! Crush your surroundings and create paths with his new Mega Eggdozers in a brand-new platforming adventure!

It’ll take more than egg tosses and flutter jumps to lead fledgling Mario through a dangerous new island littered with inventive power-ups. Can you save poor Luigi?

Guide Yoshi and a young Mario through all-new stages, from slippery slopes to watery wonderlands. As Yoshi fans know, it’s all about the collectibles and they’re more enticing than ever to find. You’ll need the new Mega Eggdozers to beat puzzling platforming moments and locate every collectible and surprise. They’re hiding — are you seeking?

The beautiful art is based on many classic styles, such as oil painting, watercolours and crayon drawings.

  • Yoshi’s New Island keeps the series’ fun game-play mechanics, such as Yoshi’s Flutter Jump, Ground Pound and Egg Throw, while also offering new abilities. For example, use the giant-sized Mega Eggs to destroy objects, obtain coins and reveal hidden doors.
  • Using the Nintendo 3DS system’s gyro sensor functionality and the new binocular ability, players can move the system around to uncover hidden areas as well as better aim Mega Egg throws. – Head through Whirly Gates in certain areas to transform into a helicopter, a bobsleigh, a jackhammer, and more! Once you’ve transformed, use your system’s motion controls to steer Yoshi!
  • Crush your surroundings to find new paths and secrets with the Mega Egg.
  • Throughout the game, different worlds feature a variety of art styles, including oil, watercolor and crayon.
  • Discover a new island chock full of clever platforming challenges. It’s a traditional platformer game with all new stages.
  • Immerse yourself in a delightful, Yoshi-ridden world. Yoshi will be the hero of this game, with Mario on his back, guiding you through on a quest to save Luigi.

On your journey it’s Yoshi’s job to keep Baby Mario safe – thankfully, our hero has plenty of talents that’ll come in handy for looking after the little ‘un! Yoshi can do the famous Flutter Jump to hover, swallow bad guys to make eggs, launch eggy ammunition at baddies, ground pound like Mario, and even transform into a range of vehicles!
