Welcome to the Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Maiamai locations guide that helps you find the total of 100 Maiamai locations for the Nintendo 3DS open world action-adventure game.

Finding all 100 Maiamai locations and picking them up in this side quest will help you upgrade the 9 at Ravio’s Shop bought items for each 10 Maiamai you find; And upon finding the final 10 Maiamai Link will receive the Master Sword’s Great Spin Attack upgrade — Your Spin Attack will be twice as wide and more powerful!

“I lost sight of my little Maiamais! All 100 of my babies, by and by! Could you find all of them?”

Where to find Mother Maiamai?: The Octopus/Hermit Crab-like creature Mother Maiamai can be found in the cave with a stones formation around the hidden entrance. Go down and left from Link’s house and there will be a wall you can bomb to blow it up and create an entrance.? — To clarify, the Mother Maiamai location is up and to the left of the House of Gales, where the 2nd/3rd dungeon is in Hyrule.

Tip: Go find Mother Maiamai first, because she will give you the Maiamai Map to help you find her lost children. Receiving the Maiamai Map will begin this side quest. The Baby Maiamais can be found throughout Hyrule and Lorule, with each world containing 50 of the Maiamai. Check the Maiamai Map to find out how many Maiamai are left to be found in any specific region (like the 8 in Lost Woods) of the world you’re currently in. — When you’re near a Maiamai you’ll hear them crying (with shrieking noises) calling for their Mother Maiamai.

Note: For every 10 Maiamai children you return to Mother Maiamai, she will give you an upgrade to 1 of the 9 items that you’ve bought (not rented) from Ravio’s Shop, with the limitation that each item can only be upgraded once. Each time you do an item upgrade, you can select one of these Ravio’s standard items to be upgraded into a “Nice” version of said item. This will give it a new design and enhanced features.

“You caught a lost Maiamai. Take it to Mother Maiamai, won’t you?”

How to find missing Maiamai?: In-game the Maiamai will appear simply as pink creatures inside a seashell, and you can pick up to collect when you walk over it. It can be confirmed as being Maiamai simply by walking up to it, as the on-screen text (and accompanying musical jingle) will then tell you that you’ve collected the Maiamai.

Important: After you’ve collected all 100 Baby Maiamais and returned them to Mother Maiamai in her cave (location described above) you’ll receive a reward! Mother Maiamai will give you the Great Spin Attack upgrade, which has an attack radius twice as wide when used and is more powerful. Perform the move by holding down the B button to charge the sword and then releasing the B button to spin.
