How to find missing Gold Bolts?: In-game the Gold Bolts will appear simply as large floating & rotating bolts with a bright gold color and sparkles around it, that you can pick up to collect when you walk over it. It can be confirmed as being Gold Bolts simply by walking up to it, as the on-screen text will then tell you your new Gold Bolts count out of the total of 12.

By pausing the game and looking at the in-game map, you can see how many collectibles you have found on the current planet. The Gold Bolts total for the planet you’re on is tracked in the bottom-right corner of the map. — The exception being Planet Kragg, where they can only be unlocked by winning the Silver & Gold challenges there.

Does the game save each Gold Bolts you collect?: Yes, the game will automatically save the Gold Bolts you just collected if you picked up the Gold Bolt, but it’s still recommended you play to the end of the current mission; at which point a story progression (and thus collectibles progress) save is triggered.
