When can you start collecting Spaceship Parts? This side quest becomes available after completing the “Fame or Shame” Mission. It is activated once the “Far Out One” Strangers & Freaks Mission for Omega in Sandy Shores is started; with Franklin after everyone is available again the first time (description deliberately kept vague to avoid story-based campaign spoilers). Although Franklin starts the mission, any of the characters can be used to pick up the Spaceship Parts that are scattered throughout San Andreas.

After meeting with Omega the UFO Spaceship Parts will appear on the map, so you might want to uncover large parts of the map first with a helicopter to see them all on the various landmarks and roads. You’ll also need Trevor’s Frogger helicopter from “The Merryweather Heist” Mission to reach some of the hard-to-reach UFO Spaceship Parts on the map.

How to find missing Spaceship Parts?: In-game the Spaceship Parts will appear simply as a box with blue lights on the sides, but the box switches in colors from white to grey to black and back. You’ll also hear a humming sound when you’re near one. You have to walk over it to pick up the item to collect, moving over its location with a vehicle will not collect it. It can be confirmed as being Spaceship Parts simply by walking until you stand on top of it, as the on-screen text will then tell you that you have “Part Collected – ??/50 spaceship parts collected.”

So each time you pick up another UFO Part, the game will tell you with an on-screen message how many collectibles out of the total you have found so far.

Does the game save each Spaceship Parts you collect?: Only if you have automatic saving turned on. If you don’t have auto-save on, the game will ask you if you want to save. So for the Spaceship Parts you just collected, you don’t have to play to the end of a mission.
