Nintendo has confirmed the Mario Kart 8 release date is April 2014 worldwide on the Wii U console. This was confirmed by the Spanish official newsletter from Nintendo of Europe. 😀
Spanish Newsletter text: “En abril de 2014 Mario Kart 8 llegara a Wii U! Los vehiculos transformables regresan en este titulo en HD, pero la apuesta por la diversion sube con el modo multijugador global, la integracion en Miiverse y la antigravedad.”

The English translation: “In April 2014 Mario Kart 8 comes to Wii U! The transforming vehicles return in this title in HD, but the commitment to fun multiplayer increases with global integration in Miiverse and antigravity.”
Mario Kart 8 will feature the return of 12-player online competitive play, hang-gliders, underwater racing and motorbikes, while introducing new racing circuit designs and antigravity karts that will have players driving upside down.
