North America’s Top 10 Games:

EA’s 18-million-selling city-building SimCity series debuts high on the charts worldwide with SimCity (2013) for PC. Now that its launch week server issues have mostly been worked out. Not that that stopped 1.1 million fans from buying the always-on online game its first week on sale after a decade-long wait for a sequel. As a result it’s the #1 bestseller this week on the all-platforms chart.

While other countries the world over still have to wait a few days, Nintendo of Japan has already released Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon as Luigi’s Mansion 2 in their home country. It’s sequel to 2001’s Luigi’s Mansion for the Nintendo GameCube. As the name implies, Luigi stars in this ghost-busting 3DS-exclusive.

Microsoft Game Studios launched the Epic Games/People Can Fly-developed Gears of War prequel worldwide this weeks. Gears of War: Judgment has been widely accepted as a fresh twist on the campaign with the story being told by multiple playable characters, fans have been flocking to the third-person shooter title for its famed multiplayer modes as well.
