Chapter 1: New Faces and Old Enemies

Welcome to our fantastical family-friendly Lego City Undercover walkthrough! The voice-over guide Nick will be your human-sized commentator for all things Lego City! Let’s have some fun! 😀

What happened to Chase before the game’s first Chapter begins:

In the misty mists of the not too distant past… Chase McCain was deep undercover on the trail of renowned criminal Rex Fury. So deep undercover that he’d had to ‘get close’ to someone for the job. “Holding hands” close, “walks on the beach” close – you get the picture. Her name was Natalia Kowalski, and she was Rex Fury’s physiotherapist.

When the time for the big sting came, Chase got Natalia to hand over some vital info that’d help put Rex away for a long time. Poor girl had no clue what she’d done. And Chase? He had no idea that she’d get put into witness protection and he wouldn’t even get to say goodbye – or tell her that he hadn’t just been pretending he loved her all that time…

Chief Dunby was the one to arrest Rex, and while he tried to take the credit for catching the bad guy, the world came to know Chase McCain as the hero who brought in the evidence to take Fury down. Chase transferred away to another undercover job. Rex went to prison. Life went on.

Skip forward to the present day… The Mayor of LEGO CITY calls on Chase for help: Rex Fury has broken outta jail and is behind a crime wave that’s sweeping the bricks. But if he’s out then… Natalia’s in danger! Chase had better hightail it back to LEGO CITY – because what do you need to catch a legendary criminal? A legendary cop, that’s what. And this time, Fury is goin’ down for good. 🙂

Let’s get started with “Chapter 1: New Faces and Old Enemies”.

After being welcomed to Lego City by the mayor, Chase must get into his police car and drive to the Lego City Police Department to start the story.

Part 2 of Chapter 1 is “Case: Cherry Tree Bank Robbery”.

Chase McCain’s first day back in LEGO City gets off to an action-packed start when a local gang robs Cherry Tree Bank dressed as clowns. You better go there and catch them fast, because Chase’s boss isn’t seeing the funny side.

New Objective: Arrest the getaway driver. Smash into the getaway driver’s car to destroy it. – The red marker on your Wii U GamePad’s map shows the location of the getaway driver. If your target gets too far away, follow the trail of green studs that appears on the road to find your target easily. Once you catch up to the clown robber, he’ll try and escape on foot, so catch up to him and press the “B” button at close range to arrest him.

Tip: Finish a Mission to unlock that Mission for play in Free Play mode. — Then you can also always replay any story Mission by walking up to the floating red square with arrow wherever the Mission was played. You can replay it whenever you want with any disguise you choose. Replay missions with different disguises and see if there are areas you can now reach, or goodies you can now nab with your new abilities.

Important note about story progression: The twisty-turny tale of Chase McCain’s adventure unfolds in story mode. So while you’re free to roam around the open world as you please, if you want to inch closer to slapping the cuffs on badguy Rex Fury you’ll need to follow the plot by playing story Missions.

Hint: Never get lost again in Lego City by using the Wii U Gamepad’s map. With a handy bird’s-eye view of the area shown on the Wii U GamePad’s touch screen it’s easy to get your bearings. You can zoom the view in or out, see your current position in real-time and set waypoints. This personal satnav also helpfully records the locations of any landmarks or collectables you happen to pass by so you can go and investigate them later.

Chapter 2: Blast from the Past

Next, we begin “Chapter 2: Blast from the Past”.

The Chief ever-so-politely asks you to go and deal with a roadblock on Auburn Bay Bridge. Police rookies have made a mess of it and Chase must sort it out. After that somehow the story spirals into a high-speed chase with Natalia.

That’s followed by a Super Build Tutorial that teaches you how to build a Call-in Point and use it to get you vehicles around Lego City. And if that wasn’t enough fun yet, you’ll get a Grapple Gun Tutorial as well.

Part 2 of Chapter 2 is the “Special Assignment: Some Assaults”.

Go to Jenny’s Diner with the giant hamburger on the roof on Blueberry Street. Scan for the robbers from the rooftop of Jenny’s Diner to get this mission going.

Note: Is anyone having fun saying “Grab your COMMUNICATORRRRR!” the way Ellie Phillips says it with her accent? 😆

About the Communicator & Wii U GamePad: Using your Wii U GamePad controller as your very own Police Communicator sure is handy. Your Communicator allows you to receive calls and mission updates from characters like Ellie Phillips or Chief Dunby, who will pop up on the GamePad screen throughout the game. On top of the nifty video calls, you can use it as an advanced scanner, a listening device or a camera! Snap photos of felons when using the Camera, listen in on criminal conversations when using it as a remote listening device, or lift and aim to use the GamePad’s motion controls and scan your surroundings for hidden criminals, clues and more! It’s the ultimate police gadget.

Chapter 3: Go Directly to Jail

Check out “Chapter 3: Go Directly to Jail”.

Here we must pay a visit to the Albatross Prison Island.

But before we can take the Ferry boat there, we need to actually build it by using the Captain’s Super Build at the port. We lean to use the Communicator as a data scanner (Data Scan mode) to find any Super bricks nearby. That’s sure to come in handy.

Part 2 of Chapter 3 is the “Special Assignment: Trouble in Stir”.

We break into the prison yard to find Blue AKA Morgan Freeman, so expect lots of Shawshank Redemption references, haha. Then we pay a visit to the cell blocks to find out how Rex escaped prison.

It’s on this assignment that we unlock the “Chase McCain (Robber)” disguise.

Part 3 of Chapter 3 concludes the “Special Assignment: Trouble in Stir”.

Chase enters the Warden’s office to find a music record in his vault. That in turn leads to a clue that opens a hidden elevator from this office to Rex’s Cell block. Rex’s luxury Cell in turn has three secret buttons to find underneath the furniture, just break everything. It’ll help you find Rex’s cellphone for proof about his escape. No doubt the Warden helped him.

Tip: Build more ticket machines to unlock new Fast Travel destinations for the Train Stations. You can use ticket machines at nearby Train Station to travel between distant locations. Tap Travel on your Wii U GamePad to confirm your Fast Travel destination.

Part 4 of Chapter 3 starts the “Special Assignment: Miner Altercation”.

This is the level where Chase finds the Miner disguise. This’ll be fun!

Blow to steam whistle next to the mine to end the miner’s shift, allowing you to walk right in and begin the new level.

Tip: Whenever you see them in Lego City, you can use blue LEGO dive boards to free fall from high places.

Part 5 of Chapter 3 concludes the “Special Assignment: Miner Altercation”.

Find 22,000 bricks to build the Cable Car. Then continue on the given path to find clues to Rex Fury’s whereabouts.

Tip: Torches can light fuses. If the torch goes out, return to the same spot for a new one. Only a torch can light a fuse and ignite it.

About Side Missions: On top of story missions there’s a wealth of side missions to tackle – take these on and you could be rewarded with LEGO studs, or perhaps unlock a new vehicle or character for your collection. Some of the side missions require a certain disguise for the job, but whether you’re seeking out spots for a coffee break, launching pigs back to their home farm with cannons, or rescuing kittens from trees you’re guaranteed loads of fun and a great reward!

More chapters coming soon. — The Story Campaign consists out of 15 Chapters with each their own Missions.
