Crysis 3 Mods?

Will there be Crysis 3 Mods? We took to developer Crytek’s official forums to find out as they answered fan’s questions!

With Crysis 3 becoming available from February 19th, 2013 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, the big standout for PC gamers — aside from better graphics — is the possibility of having Crysis 3 Mods! It would be especially welcome for the potential of added multiplayer mayhem, since Crysis 3 Multiplayer supports up to 16 players on PC! (Only 12 players on consoles)

Crysis 3 Mods

Crysis 3’s multiplayer mode with its variety of team-based modes is referred to as “C3MP”. The multiplayer design part of the game is separately in development at Crytek UK — formerly known as the TimeSplitters studio Free Radical Design.

When asked if there will be official Mod support for Crysis 3 the lead programmer of C3MP, Richard Semmens, answered:

“There is no official announcement about mod support at this time.”

No explanation was given when Mod support would become available, or even ‘if ever’, but the logical explanation as to why some of the multiplayer features (like Spectator Mode) had to be limited was “due to time constraints we ended up having to drop it, which was a great shame.”

These various suggested C3MP modes did not make it into the final game. Omitted modes include: Spectator Mode, Theater Mode, Co-op Mode, Power Struggle Mode, nor a Skill-matching System. Although a surprise new mode was promised as DLC after release, which is great news because it means C3MP development is not over yet.

Here’s the Crysis 3 Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer that shows what’s available at launch:
