Resident Evil: Downfall Coming To 3DS?

If these rumors turn out to be true, Capcom is working on a Resident Evil: Revelations sequel tentatively titled Resident Evil: Downfall, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. The cartridge is rumored to include both RE CGI movies — called: Resident Evil: Degeneration and its sequel Resident Evil: Damnation — in 3D as a bonus!

Resident Evil: Downfall is supposedly set for release on 3DS in late 2012. The portable game’s storyline takes place in between Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, and “features Claire Redfield as she witnessed the downfall of humanity.”

Considering both Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D & Resident Evil: Revelations were released within the first year of the 3DS system’s life, and the latter game is estimated to have sold half a million copies to the 17.1 million 3DS owners (that’s 1 out of every 34 3DS gamers picking it up!); it does seem that Capcom’s likely to keep supporting Nintendo’s portable over the PlayStation Vita’s 1.2 million owners. No doubt we’ll get confirmation at E3 2012 the first week of June.

Here’s the Resident Evil: Revelations launch trailer as a reminder of how scary Resident Evil can be when it goes back to its survival-horror roots!
