Dead or Alive vs Tekken or Tekken vs Dead or Alive; either project would be a fans dream come true. And when you consider the fact that game’s like Street Fighter X Tekken and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 are so popular, you’d think another crazy mix like Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter or Dead or Alive vs Tekken, should be waiting in the wings.
Right? RIGHT?!
Of course this is only a fan’s dream. Sadly, we live in the real world. And in the real world, Team Ninja is laughing…. At us.
Apparently, Team Ninja have absolutely ZERO interest in doing a crossover of Tekken and Dead or Alive, two premier long-running fighters. From Namco and Tecmo respectively.
To quote Team Ninja:
“Itagaki might have left, but the hatred for Tekken is still around in the team [laughter]. So when we see Street Fighter X Tekken and those kinds of games… We’re coming out with Dead or Alive. We don’t need to rely on anything else to present Dead or Alive as a strong fighting game in the genre. We don’t need that kind of thing to prove ourselves. We understand that Tekken has… It opened the way for 3D fighting games, we understand that it has a long history, we respect that history, but we’re coming in as a challenger to those 3D fighting games. We’re there to represent and take them on.” – Team Ninja studio head Yosuke Hayashi to VentureBeat.
*sigh* We can dream… Hopefully the REALITY of MONEY will one day allow this idea to take hold and be put into action. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize the sales potential of mixing the two great fighting games.
The only question is, which would you prefer? Tekken vs Dead or Alive (made by Namco) or Dead or Alive vs Tekken (Made by Team Ninja)?
