The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Ships 7 Million. Sells 3.5 Million Day 1

The official stats from ZeniMax (Bethesda’s parent company) are now in and the results are pretty impressive!

Skyrim, the newest title in the hugely popular Elder Scrolls series, had been three years in the making before its 11.11.11 release, and it seems that fans could not wait to get their hands on it.

In its first 48 hours, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim sold 3.5 million copies and seven million copies of the game were shipped to retailers, which means that over 50% of stock has already been sold.

In response to these figures, Robert Altman, CEO of ZeniMax announced that “We are grateful for the fans’ response to Skyrim. Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation for Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company’s history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides.”

Bethesda director Todd Howard stated that “Without a doubt, this has been our most ambitious project ever. After over three years of development, we’re finally excited to get it into everyone’s hands.”
