The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Walkthrough

Chapter 17: Sky Keep Dungeon

This dungeon is not all that hard, but very confusing. However, it does have some very tough battles ahead, so fill all of your bottles with potions and fairies; you’ll need them. As soon as you enter the temple, open the treasure chest in the first room to obtain the Dungeon Map. This dungeon is like one big cube made of smaller cubes, and you can move the rooms around. Depending on how you move them, you’ll be able to access some rooms, while others will be blocked. Examine the panel on the right to see a representation of the rooms in form of a small puzzle. You can only move each block in one direction, so move one block down, then one block right. That’s it, so leave the panel alone for now. The rooms will reposition according to the changes. You can now enter the room next to the control panel.

Wood Chamber

Head right and defeat the Deku Babas. Then use the Beetle to fly over the chasm and cut the plants holding the rope on the other side. Use the Whip on the beam, then swing on the rope to get across. Cut the cobweb of the Skulltula ahead with the Beetle to defeat it, then shoot an arrow at the Furnix. Use the Clawshots on the spinning pillars covered in vines to cross, then while on the second one, use the Clawshots on the target inside the fish head on the opposite wall. To cross the ropes ahead, you’ll first need to get rid of the enemies hidding in the wall. Use the Beetle to go grab a bomb on the spinning pillar, then ram into the middle enemy in the wall behind the ropes to blow them all up. Get across the ropes, then use the Gust Bellows on the wood platforms to reach the other side. Pull the lever on the left wall to open a shortcut for later, then go into the room next to the save statue.

Mining Facility Chamber

Pick up the timeshift stone on the left, then run to the right and defeat the Sentrobe down the stairs. Then put down the stone in front of the barred gate to the left. Climb up the ladder and pull down the lever on the wall above to open the gate. Go back down, pick up the stone and throw it into the conveyor belt ahead. Climb back up the ladder and go get your stone back at the end of the conveyor belt. In the next room, put down the stone on he platform with the vanes, then use the Gust Bellows to move it to the left. Step on the switch half-way through to open the gate blocking the path, then move it left some more to reveal an eye switch on the wall. Shoot it with an arrow to open the next gate, then get your stone back and move ahead.

Go left and throw the stone into the conveyor belt here. Go into the path to the right and defeat the two Beamos. Look above the conveyor belt to spot some eye switches. Shoot the rightmost one with an arrow, then use the Whip on the lever between the two Beamos to reverse the conveyor belt. Now wait for the stone to move back left and shoot the rest of the eyes above. If you can’t shoot them all, just reverse the conveyor belt again and shoot the eyes you missed, until you have shot all of them. This will open the control panel in this room. Move one block down, one block right, one block up, the next block up again, one block left, then one block down. This will move the rooms in a different order. Leave this room and go back to the wood room through the shortcut. The door that previously led to the entrance of the temple now leads to a different room.

Earth Chamber

Start by going left and crawl into the small tunnel at the bottom of the wall. Roll bombs into the next tunnel to unblock it, then crawl to the next room and dig into the hole here. Hit the switch in the burrow to remove a gate, then go back to the save statue. The path to the left is now open so go on and defeat the Dark Lizalfos ahead. Then throw a bomb into the basket-holding statue to the left to reveal a switch, which you shouldn’t touch for now. Then turn to the right where the sand slope is and roll down a bomb near the center. If positioned correctly, the bomb will slide down the slope and fall into the basket-holding statue at the bottom. Try rolling bombs through different spots until you get it right. Then slide down yourself and hit the switch here.

Climb up the vines on the wall, then look ahead to spot some bamboo trees. Use Skyward strikes to hit and cut the bamboo from afar. Then do the same thing with the bamboo trees on the left. Now use the Beetle to go grab the bomb that was behind the bamboos in front of you and drop it into the basket-holding statue that was behind the bamboos to the left to reveal another switch. Don’t hit it yet, first hit the switch that was where the dark Lizalfos was with an arrow, then hit the one where the bamboos were. (So in order: the switch below the sand slope, then the Dark Lizalfos switch, then the bamboos switch) This will open a gate leading to a hole in the ground.

Dig into it, then hit the bomb to the right twice to blow up the rubble in the way. Then hit the bomb to the left, then up, to blow up more rubble. Go around to hit the blue switch in the top-right corner, then leave the burrow and try returning to the save statue at the room’s entrance. You’ll notice the gate has moved and you can now access another hole in the ground. In this burrow, defeat the two centipedes by hitting their tail, then exit through the other hole to emerge right next to a control panel. You’ll need to take a look at the video to see how to move the blocks to enter the next room, as it’s more complicated this time. Set the blocks so you can enter the room with the green triforce from where you are. Then follow the path to the left to enter this room.

Dark Chamber

As you enter the room, you’ll come face to face with a familiar enemy; you’ll need to fight Scervo again, and he’s a lot harder this time. The method to beat him is the same as last time, attack him on the side he’s not defending to throw him back until he falls off the edge of the platform. You’ll need to do this three times until he is defeated. After that, use the Clawshots to get across and open the chest on the right to obtain a Small Key. Then go through the door on the left and follow the path until you reach another room. Open the door in the center of this room with the key you just found. Defeat the two Moblins by dashing over them and attacking them from behind. Then enter the next room, which has a lot going on inside.

Tackle one thing at a time. Defeat all the Bokoblins first, then find a spot where the arrows cannot touch you and defeat the Stalfos. You have a better sword now, so it shouldn’t take much hits. Finally, take out all the archers with your Bow. Enter the next room to face a bigger Stalfos, and some cursed bokoblins. Get rid of the bokoblins first, then take on the Stalfos. Use all your potions if you have to; there’s no more enemies after that, thankfully. Just attack through his guard until you dispose of him, then thrust your sword in the ground ahead and go collect the Triforce of Courage. Return to the Earth Chamber’s control panel and move one block down, one block right, one block up, and one block right. Then go back to the Dark Chamber and head through the door on the other side of the room to enter a completely new room.

Sand Chamber

Head right up the cliff and pick up the timeshift stone. Carry it to the opposite side of the room and put it down on the orange tile with a symbol on it. Return to the cliff where you took the stone and shoot an arrow at the wall above where you left the stone; there should be an eye switch in an alcove. This will remove the bars blocking the opening below. Go back to get the timeshift stone and enter the new opening on the left. As soon as the two Deku Babas appear as you walk forward, put down the stone and leave it there. Defeat the two enemies, then dash forward through the sand (don’t bring the stone with you). On the other side, stand on the switch and shoot the eye switch on the opposite wall through the broken fan opening. Go back to get the timeshift stone and bring it to the area just below the gate that you just opened by shooting the switch.

There should be two Technoblins here; defeat them, then put down the stone in a way that it lies below the area above, but in a place where some cliffs appear. Then head back up where you first got the stone and jump on the cliffs that just appeared. Use the Clawshots on the target in the area above, then go through the opening on the left. If you can’t go through, then try placing the stone somewhere else so you can go through while the cliffs are there. Thrust your sword in the ground and collect the Triforce of Wisdom ahead. Now go back again to the Earth Chamber to use the control panel. Here again it’s kind of hard to explain as there are a lot of blocks to move, so check the last video for the puzzle solution. You need to place the rooms so you can reach the remaining Triforce. You’ll need to cross the Dark Chamber again where you fought Scervo, then head left to reach the last room.

Lava Chamber

Go left and shoot the bud above the lava river to create a platform. Get on it and take out all the Fire Keeses. When you arrive near the other extremity, shoot the crystal switch in the wall left of the next bud. Then shoot the bud and jump on the new platform. Shoot the crystal switch on the wall in the direction where the platform is floating to stop the lava flow ahead. Jump off the platform at the end, then shoot the next bud and jump on the next platform. Kill off the Cursed Keeses, then shoot the crystal switch atop the wall on the right when you get close to the extremity. Shoot the bud and jump on the new platform. You will soon float towards a platform going up and down over a lava spout. Jump on it, then use the Beetle to go back and hit the last switch that you just hit to reverse the flow of the lava again. You can also collect a Silver Rupee in an alcove on the left on your way there. Then wait for the platform you are standing on to go up and shoot the bud next to it. Jump down on the platform below, then get off on the grating ahead. Quickly shoot down the enemies in the river before they curse you, then use the Clawshots on the target at the end of the river to climb up. Thrust your sword into the ground and collect the Triforce of Power. You now have everything, congratulations!

When you are up for the final battle, fly back to the Sealed Grounds and enter the Time Gate at the Sealed Temple. There is no point of no return, so don’t worry, you can always come back later and do more side quests if you wish. Just make a copy of your save file so you can save the clear file too.
