The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Soundtrack Revealed

Every copy of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword in the initial production runs will include a free The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Special Orchestra CD. This recording features 45 minutes of iconic music spanning the 25-year history of the Zelda franchise and offers fans who weren’t able to attend the sold-out Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony concerts in Los Angeles, Tokyo and London an opportunity to hear some of the arrangements created for those shows.

In a recent interview, Shigeru Miyamoto reconfirmed that Skyward Sword will feature an orchestrated soundtrack.

Composer Mahito Yokota also added that the music within Skyward Sword will feature folk instruments in many of its pieces and that the soundtrack will include a variety of classic tracks from the Zelda series, now orchestrated. “When listening to past music for the Legend of Zelda series, there were several songs that I wanted to arrange for an orchestra,” He said, “I chose some to my fancy and put them in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.”

In regards to the music direction itself, Yokota stated that “one of the characteristics of the music of The Legend of Zelda series is the background music with folk instruments. So not only the regular orchestral instruments, but we also recorded some folk instruments live.”
