Modern Warfare 3 Sells 4.7 Million On Launch Day

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 sets the first-day sales record this week.

The latest ‘Call of Duty’ video game set the record this week, generating $400million in sales in its first 24 hours in stores, which breaks the record set by its predecessor this time last year.

‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’ is the third game in the military shooter series to set such a record with ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ raking in $360million in its first 24 hours on sale and ‘Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2,’ selling 4.7million copies in its first 24 hours reaping in an impressive $310million!

‘We believe the launch of ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3′ is the biggest entertainment launch of all time in any medium, and we achieved this record with sales from only two territories,’ said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard.

Since the release, Modern Warfare 3 players have broken the Xbox Live record for the number of users online at the same time, according to Microsoft.
