Postal 3 Release Date Announced On PC

Postal 3 will be released on December 10th, 2011 exclusively for Steam announced developer Running With Scissors.

Postal 3 is the latest game in this pop-classic first-person shooter series. Console versions of the title are also reportedly in the works for Xbox 360 and PS3 and possibly other platforms (Mac, Linux). The game is being published in a deal with Russian publisher Akella, marking the first worldwide deal for the series.

In the game, The Postal Dude emigrates to Catharsis, the sister town of Paradise; which no longer exists after he blew it up with a nuclear bomb. However Catharsis is set in “modern-day” America and is thus in the throes of economic meltdown! When gas prices are so high that The Postal Dude can’t afford to buy a single gallon of gasoline, he becomes stranded! He must now perform odd jobs and find work in order to afford his way out of town!

Postal 3 has an open-world gameplay style and will present players with two different paths to take. A “good” and a “bad” path. The former involves The Postal Dude joining the Catharsis Police Force, while the latter sees him getting in cahoots with the corrupt government with Mayor Chomo and Uncle Dave. Players actions will determine the ending, although the game is fairly linear. The Good Path is made for those who wish to see more of the storyline and a longer campaign, while the Bad Path is for those who just want to kill people and cause wanton destruction.

“This is a great day for RWS but, more importantly, for POSTAL Fans around the world,” proclaimed RWS CEO Vince Desi. “We welcome gamers everywhere to play for themselves and see what they’ve been missing.”

POSTAL III delivers the return of The Postal Dude, among the “most memorable characters in video game history”, as well as Virtual Guest Appearances by singing sensation Randy Jones (from The Village People), Playboy Playmate Jennifer Walcott, the infamous videogame film ruiner Uwe Boll and porn legend Ron Jeremy. Or, as Desi put it: “We cover the rainbow of society.”

“It’s been a long, hard journey to get it here,” Akella’s Andrew Belkin acknowledged. “But I couldn’t have written a happier ending than seeing POSTAL III on Steam!”
