PS Vita Release Date US & Europe Confirmed

The PlayStation Vita release date worldwide is February 22, 2012 in America, Europe, Canada, and Latin America Sony has confirmed! BOOOSH!

As was previously revealed upon the PSP successor’s announcement, the price of the system will be set at $250 U.S. Dollars for the Wi-Fi model and $300 for the 3G Model (via AT&T, system price doesn’t include price of an AT&T subscription/plan).

Worldwide pricing is as follows:

PS Vita Wi-Fi Mode: $250 US / €249.99 (RRP) [AUD$349.95 (RRP) / NZD$449.95 (RRP)

PS Vita 3G Model: $300 US / €299.99 (RRP) [AUD$449.95 (RRP) / NZD$549.95 (RRP)]

This release date news was announced at, of all places, the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, California.

“Our first-party studios and army of publishing partners have been extremely hard at work to ensure that PS Vita launches with a vast library of titles that deliver unique gameplay experiences that go beyond any handheld or mobile device on the market.

We have more than 100 games currently in development globally that span many different genres, including Sound Shapes, Resistance: Burning Skies, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Capcom’s Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, EA Sports’ FIFA, Activision’s Call of Duty, and numerous others that you’ll hear about in the months ahead.”

The list of next-gen, high-tech features on the PS Vita is staggering. It will feature a vibrant 5-inch OLED screen, dual analog sticks, dual cameras, a front touchscreen and rear touch panel, built-in GPS, motion control, CrossPlay Support (vs against PS3 owners & vice versa), full access to the entire library of PlayStation Network content (Netflix, Facebook, Skype, FourSquare, Twitter, Movies, Music, Digital Comics, minis, PSOne Classics, PSN Games, etc.) and access to native social applications called Near and Party, among others, that help you connect with your friends and fellow PS Vita owners around your block and around the world in new and fun ways.

You can also choose to either download PS Vita games digitally or buy them at brick-and-mortar retailers on special NVG Cards. Every single title will be available in both digital and physical format.
