Devil May Cry HD Collection Coming for PS3 and Xbox 360

A Devil May Cry HD Collection set looks like a go for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as the ESRB has just outted the games.

According to the ESRB, Devil May Cry 1, Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3 will all be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

What’s unknown is whether or not these games will be released digitally, one-by-one, or digitally as a set, or at retail on a disc. However the Tokyo Game Show 2011 is next week, and this year marks the 10th Anniversary of Devil May Cry; so this set is extremely likely.

Particularly given the fact that Capcom is re-releasing HD versions of Resident Evil: Code Veronica X and Resident Evil 4, and the fact that collection sets have been a big win on the PlayStation 3; with sets like the God of War Collection, The Sly Collection, The Tomb Raider Trilogy, The Prince of Persia Trilogy and Splinter Cell Collection, the God of War: Origins Collection, the Metal Gear Solid Collection, Tekken Hybrid and many others.

The most interesting aspect of the DMC games being rated by the ESRB, is the fact that Xbox 360 versions have been confirmed. The original Devil May Cry trilogy was released exclusively for PlayStation 2 last generation, and the games have never been re-released, much less for multiple consoles. Although Devil May Cry 4 and the upcoming DMC: Devil May Cry, a Ninja-Theory developed reboot of the franchise, are Xbox 360 bound as well as PS3 titles.

Previous to this news, a Devil May Cry 10th Anniversary Collection for PS3 was outted by a Spain retailer for release this November. And is likely referring to the same set.

We’ll learn much more when this news is officially confirmed at TGS 2011.
