Kingdoms of Amaular: Reckoning will be released on February 7, 2012 in America and February 10th in Euruope announced EA Partners and developers 38 Studios and Big Huge Games.

The highly anticipated Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a single-player role-playing game developed with extreme pedigree: the lead designer of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the executive designer of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning with Spawn creator Todd McFarlene doing the game’s artwork and art direction with a storyline written by noted fantasy author R.A. Salvatore (The Demon Wars Saga, Forgotten Realms novels, and Vector Prime, the first novel in the Star Wars: The New Jedi Order series, you know, the one that killed off Chewbacca!).

The developers are aiming at the game to offer a world that’s as large and deep as that of the Elder Scrolls series, with all the RPG elements fans love, while also mixing in Devil May Cry-style action elements for a more unique blend.

The game features 5 distinct regions, 4 playable races, and 3 class trees with 22 abilities per tree. The game also features a “Destiny System” that kinda replaces classes, allowing the player to focus on a specific skill-tree to unlock various “destinies”.

It is mostly Quick-Time Event button presses mixed in with the times button presses that will make the game more action-oriented and hopefully bump up the excitement factor.

Here is the Gamescom 2011 trailer for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
