Big in Japan: A First Look At 3DS Sales After The Price Drop

The 3DS price has dropped to 15,000 yen today, and by the looks of things people have been rushing to Bic Camera Ikeburo to get their hands on the model!

News of the 3DS price drop was met with a lot of anguish from most Japanese 3DS owners. The word is however that the first-day ‘price drop’ sales are going relatively well and waiting lines are spotted everywhere.

On the first floor of BIC (Japan’s leading consumer electronics retailer), it was reported that there were around 30 people queuing up before the 10 am opening, all of which had not pre-ordered copies. In the opening 30 minutes, more than 50 people had purchased a Nintendo 3DS. The pre-ordered sales won’t be reported until the evening.

The most popular color is “Red Flare”, for both men and women, though plenty of stock is reportedly available in every color! Pokemon Super Scramble is the most popular new software released today with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina 3D and Star Fox 64 3D coming in at a close second.

Take a look at some images from the opening!
