Namco Bandai and Nitro Plus, the developers of Steins;Gate, team up for a PSP adaptation of anime series Puella Magi Madoka Magica!

The anime series centers around schoolgirl Madoka Kaname and her friend Sayaka Miki. They are approached by a familiar named Kyubey, who offers to grant each of them one wish in return for turning each of them into a ‘magical girl’. Magical girls are gifted with powers and, in return for their wishes, must fight witches and other dark creatures.

Contrary to the glamorous notions one would expect, a magical girl must deal with death, isolation, and agony over the value of her wish. Madoka, following her friends, soon sees the darker side of being a magical girl.

The PSP adaptation is said to be an “adventure dungeon RPG,” centering on turn-based movement through dungeons. The story will be based off the anime, but will also be covering new areas of the story!

Namco Bandai is readying a standard version and a limited version.
The standard version will be priced at ¥6,480, which is roughly $83 or £50. The limited version includes a Figma figure, a handkerchief, an illustration collection, and other bonuses. It will be priced at ¥11,900, which is roughly $152 or £93.

Unfortunately, you will have to wait a while to play the Magi Madoka Magica adaptation, as it’s not due for release until March 15th, 2012!
