Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land Release Dates Announced (3DS)

The Super Mario 3D Land release date and Mario Kart 7 release date are the newest 3DS games added to the upcoming release schedule for Nintendo’s system.

Mario Kart 7 is the official title of the previously unnamed Mario Kart 3DS game, which was shown off with a debut gameplay video during E3 2011, but which until now did not have an official title. Seems that Nintendo has finally given a numbered title to a Mario Kart game, which is very weird but also very interesting, to say the least. Nothing new about the game was revealed, but heck, Mario Kart 7 is a kickass name if you ask me.

Mario Kart 7 will be released this December 2011, confirmed Nintendo. Though an exact date wasn’t officially given, the leaked December 4th, 2011 date seems very much legit. We’ll surely hear more soon as the holiday season approaches.

And what about the upcoming Super Mario 3DS title? That game has also been given an official name! As you can see in the title, an apt and pretty awesome name has been chosen, and the 3DS Super Mario (which was shown at E3 2011 as the simply titled “Super Mario” codename) will now officially be called: Super Mario 3D Land!

Super Mario 3D Land will be released this November 2011 as Nintendo’s big key holiday title for the Nintendo 3DS and the system’s first official retail Mario game built from the ground-up for the system! The leaked date looks like November 13th, 2011 is the street date.

Strange to think the 3DS still lacks Mario… although there’s always the Game Boy Virtual Console and it’s Super Mario Land!

Last but not least, Nintendo gave an official Star Fox 64 release date for Americans and Europeans, the game will now come out on September 9th, 2011 in both territories. Woot woot! Australia will get the game on September 15th.

In addition, Nintendo reaffirmed its intentions to still release Kid Icarus: Uprising during this 2011 holiday season, although it did not date the game. With most of the months already filled up, you have to wonder if Nintendo will actually delay the title into 2012. That seems unreasonable given how far along Kid Icarus: Uprising seems to be (the game wowed at E3 2011), but more spit-polish isn’t a bad thing, and there is always the chance it could be lost in the shuffle if they release it between titans like Super Mario Land 3D and Mario Kart 7. Of course, October is still free, so maybe they’ll squeeze it in there. But its a bit odd that they didn’t date it, which could mean a delay for the highly anticipated and long-awaited revival of Pit. But let’s hope not! The 3DS needs all the AAA action it can muster!
