Bethesda has announced Dishonored, an all-new first-person shooter being developed by Arkane Studios.

This game is the first title by the developer after they were acquired by Bethesda parent company ZeniMax last year.

It is being made by the co-creative directors behind Arx Fatalis and the original Deus Ex (Raphael Colantonio and Harvey Smith, respectively) and will be released in 2012.

August will see the game gracing the cover of Game Informer where it will get its full reveal, exclusively in the American magazine.

Very little is known about the title, except that it will allow the player a wide variety of choices in how to tackle the game world. Game Informer describes it this way:

“It’s a game about assassination where you don’t have to kill anyone. It’s a game about infiltration where you can set up traps and slaughter the entire garrison of an aristocrat’s mansion rather than sneak in. It’s a game about brutal violence where you can slip in and out of a fortified barracks with nobody ever knowing you were there. It’s a game about morality and player choice where the world you create is based on your actions, not navigating conversation trees.”

The game will be released in 2012 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
