Wii U release date in Spring or Summer 2012, says Sega

Nintendo Wii U console and controller
At the Nintendo E3 2011 press conference’s Wii U reveal, the company said the Wii U is “coming to your living room in 2012” for a vague release date of the newly announced gaming console.

You might think it’ll be released between May and December 2012 as a large time-frame, since they said it wouldn’t be coming before April 2012. But recently Sega’s executive vice president of marketing Alan Pritchard revealed a little more exact release date.

During an interview with Gamespot Mr. Pritchard talked about the upcoming Sonic Generations, and when he was asked whether or not the upcoming Sonic game would be released on the Nintendo Wii U as well as Nintendo 3DS, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. He had this to say:

“The timing just doesn’t work. Generations releases this November [2011], and the Wii U is coming out next Spring/Summer [2012].”

So there you have it folks, right from someone in the know! We might be getting the Wii U before holiday season 2012!

Update:
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata recently spoke at an investor meeting, giving an implied Japanese release of Wii U as later than June… This means it is likely that the Japanese Wii U will launch in September 2012 in Japan, and November in America and Europe. If this is really the case, we are in for a LOOONG Wii year…
