This Zelda: Ocarina of Time upgrades guide shows how to carry more Deku Sticks, Deku Nuts, Deku Seeds, Bombs and Arrows.

This can be done by finding certain Deku Business Scrubs who will upgrade your Deku Seed Bullet Bag pouch allowing you to carry more Deku Seeds for your Slingshot, as well as upgrading your ability to carry more Deku Nuts and Deku Sticks.

Additionally you can find upgrades to your Bomb Bag to allow you to carry more Bombs and to your Quiver to allow you to carry more Arrows.

These videos will show you how:

TIP:
You will NOT be able to collect the Deku Nut’s highest upgrade if you don’t get it (at the Forest Stage) BEFORE you collect the Poacher’s Saw item. To avoid this, go to get the Deku Nut upgrade as soon as possible while you are young and as soon as you have access to the Masks required to get it.

This video reveals why you can’t get the Deku Nuts past a certain point in the game (getting the Poacher’s Saw, it turns out).
