Silent Hill: Book of Memories announced for PlayStation Vita

Silent Hill: Book of Memories has been announced by Konami for the PS Vita, as the first Silent Hill title to be created for a next-generation system. In this case, Sony’s newest generation portable hardware that will replace the PSP.

Book of Memories will be the 9th installment in Konami’s long-running survival horror franchise, and was confirmed and officially announced at Konami’s pre-E3 2011 conference. Although it is being called the 9th installment, it is unconfirmed if this is the next core entry in the series or a handheld spin-off like Silent Hill Origins was.

That is all she wrote though, as the game is so early on that it has yet to even be concept-approved by Sony Computer Entertainment of America; but either way, work on the title has begun in earnest.

You can hear a glimpse on the new title and it’s official announcement in this video; Which primarily talks about the upcoming Silent Hill: Revelation 3D movie (essentially the Silent Hill 2 film) and also gives some glimpses at the upcoming Silent Hill: Downpour (Previously Silent Hill 8); as well as the Silent Hill HD Collection announcement.
