LA Noire lets you skip difficult scenes

Rockstar’s upcoming heavyweight title L.A. Noire has an interesting feature, fail a mission too many times and the game will allow you to skip it entirely.

This was revealed in a Question & Answer session with Rockstar’s Art Director Rob Nelson when he appeared at the Tribecca Film festival (first time a game has ever appeared at a film festival).

Obviously having the ability to skip sections that players are finding too tough will open the game up to players who may not play it otherwise, making it more accessible. If you fail too many times a pop up will come onscreen and ask the player if they’d like to skip ahead.

To quote Rob Nelson:

“You can skip those action elements and still experience the bulk of the narrative,” said Nelson.

Here is the third official trailer for the game.

Apparently LA Noire will only be 20% action sequences, whereas the rest is detective work, interrogating suspects and uncovering more of the in-depth storyline. It has already been revealed that LA Noire takes over 25 hours to finish as well.

The LA Noire release date is on May 17, 2011 for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Here are a series of “gameplay” feature videos for L.A. Noire.
